Introduction

You are walking the beaches but feel the waterline rising towards you. The water creeps up from your toes to your ankles, and you feel the chilling cold of the ocean water on your body. Now imagine that your body changes; time flies by. You feel your toes merging into flippers, and your ankles turn to a tail; the air that gave you breath suddenly suffocates your new-grown gills; you must turn to water. You cast a final glance at your former home, swimming towards a new destiny underwater.

Aquatic library consists of a collection of speculative field notes that explore a distant – or perhaps not so-distant – future for mankind. Through speculative design, the project created critical reflection and questioned existing systems, particularly the evolution and how it will be impacted by the rapidly changing living environments caused by climate change
